CinemaNow Movie Download and
Burn to DVD Service

CinemaNow.com provides premium on-demand internet movie downloads.  Cinemanow users can download and then burn to DVD or CD films, movies and other video content. CinemaNow launched Burn-to-DVD in July 2006 and the movie downloading is done via internet explorer.

CinemaNow offers legal movie downloads of over 4,000 full-length films, tv programs and concerts from more than 250 providers such as ABC News, 20th Century Fox, Disney, MGM, Miramax, NBC Universal, Paramount, Sony and Warner Bros.

CinemaNow was founded in 1999, and has investors such as Microsoft, Cisco Systems and Blockbuster.

Their main claim to fame is that they have a Burn-to-DVD feature so that you can burn a DVD which is playable on virtually any DVD player for selected movie titles. Perhaps the way to use it is to burn to DVD to archive your favorite movies, but simply rent digital download versions of those that you just want to see once.

CinemaNow is now in collaboration with Intel so that they can optimize their Burn-to-DVD service for PCs which are based on Intel's Viiv technology.  The more powerful Core 2 Duo processor allows Viiv based PC consumers to download and burn movies more efficiently.

This is the real advantage - no longer are you tied to your PC to watch a movie that you have downloaded - you can now burn it to DVD and watch it anywhere you want, whenver you want.

So how long does burn-to-DVD take?

The conversion procedure takes from 2-5 hours - this is not surprising as all the DVD extras are included. The actual the burn-to-DVD process then takes just 10 to 15 minutes.  CinemaNow at present only allows one burnable copy for each purchase in order to protect against DVD piracy.
