Microsoft Zune
What is Microsoft Zune?
The Microsoft Zune was Launched by Microsoft in November 2006, Zune is a digital portable media player and online music store.
What can zune do?
Microsoft Zune has Wi-Fi communication built in so that it can share sharing songs, recordings, playlists and pictures with other Zunes.
Audio files (like songs, podcasts, etc.) can be transferred from one Zune to another and then played for up to three days - or three plays - whichever is first. Then it expires - unless it is purchased or downloaded via the Microsoft Zune Marketplace which is online.
You cannot re-send the music or audio files that you have received from another zune.
Not all songs can be shared, as some record companies flag songs as non-distributable.
The system includes software for your PC called Zune Software together with an online store called the Microsoft Zune Marketplace.
The Zune can be connected to an Xbox 360, so that you can stream music, videos, and pictures via your USB connection. Zune PC software can also stream music, videos, and pictures to your Xbox 360 via your home network.
The Micorosft Zune has a built in FM tuner so that you can listen to your favorite radio stations as well!
The Zune has a 3 inch LCD screen in full color that can be used either in landscape or portrait mode so that you can see your favorite clips and photos the right way round!
The storage capacity of Microsoft's Zune is more than most people will ever need - with a very healthy 30GB available you can store about 100 hours of video, an astonsihing 7,500 songs or a staggering 25,000 photos!
What colors does Microsoft Zune come in?
Microsoft Zune comes three colors. It has a cool "doubleshot" effect which is a translucent glow but in a different color. The main colors are chocolate brown, light black, and pearl white with a doubleshot of green, blue, and clear.
Zune software
The Zune Software allows you to sync your music, pictures and videos to the Zune. It also sorts it all out in a and allows you to rip from CD. The Microsoft Zune Software also lets you access the Zune Marketplace.
The Microsoft Zune's software has an inbox. This keeps track of music which is flagged for later purchase, plus songs swapped with other Microsoft Zune friends. This inbox shows up on your PC in the Zune software too. All music downloaded under the subscription plan becomes unplayable if the user lets the subscription lapse. Songs downloaded under a subscription are not burnable to CD without paying an additional charge per track.
